We have hardly any blue berries this year, it was too cold this spring/summer. The ones I seen are still green so maybe they'll ripen before freezeup?? My Nushagak River friends say they have alot there. But we are blessed with blackberries all over the place!

Curious if you ever heard the 'maqai' or steambath song that's sung in Yupik by some guy with a guitar and maybe some keys. Got it from my brother who got it from his friend and so on, well you know how that goes. Anyway if you haven't I can email it to you to listen to and maybe translate for us? It's in a different dialect than here, my mom couldn't understand some words. Well, you have a good hunting season and a great fall!

Camai my friend :)

How have you been?  I've been so busy here at work don't hardly have time to think.  Season will wind down pretty quick and get into the -50 below winter mode :)  My upcoming break I will be out moose hunting, fishing too!  Lotsa mosquito's, gnats and no-see-ums are here (betcha miss them).  Take care my friend and be safe :)

Hey!

Thought the bears had gotten you at last! Ha,ha! I saw on the Travel Channel they had a Chef up in the Bethel area tasting the Native dishes there. The Moose jelly, fish head soup and the seal oil something were eaten. I remember when trying alot of the stuff there.

My tribe's pow wow is just around the corner here. I am going to see it this year, I hope!

Boy, I don't miss those skeeters! Who would think they would be so large up there?! Any whooooooo!

Take care,

Frank
